Edgeley and Cheadle Heath Labour Party

Edgeley and Cheadle Heath Labour Party meets every month (apart from August and December).  We meet at Stockport Labour Club on Lloyd Street, Heaton Norris SK4 1QP.  The meetings are open to all Members and everyone is welcome, particularly new Members.

The meetings do have to deal with branch business but we have invited speakers, hear reports from our three Councillors and sometimes join with our neighbouring Branch, Davenport & Cale Green. We also hold fundraising events to pay for our leaflets, events and campaigning either as a Branch or joining with the Constituency Party.

Street stall on Castle Street - despite the rain!

We recently held a street stall on Castle Street in support of all public sector workers and the need to give them a fair deal.  They have lost thousands of pounds over the last 7 years and yet they provide this country's most essential services - nurses, doctors, police officers, fire fighters, paramedics and local government workers, in fact everyone working in the public sector and delivering public services.  "Our petition was signed by everyone we talked to" said Cllr Philip Harding.  "It was a good morning and we were delighted to be joined by representatives of UNISON and the Royal College of Nursing".

Great day in Edgeley

Cllr Coaton and Cllr Harding out on Torkington Street.

On Saturday we had a great day talking to local residents in Torkington Street and Grenville Street, listening to some of the issues that people wanted to raise.  We then went on to the Community Open Day at St Matthew's Church, Grenville Street where there were organisations sharing information with local residents, and each other!  There was a puppet show for the children, refreshments and the opportunity just to sit and have a chat.  Well done to St Matthew's Church for another enjoyable community event.
